Natural Roach Control Step 3
Roach Traps
-
Sticky box traps use a sticky substance inside a open end box. They are called Roach
Motels. They can be purchased at most garden centers. Pop bottles make excellent
traps as the fermentation of the soda inside attracts roaches and the pop bottle's shape
keeps them from getting out, trapping them until they finally drown inside. Wine bottles,
beer bottles and most long neck bottles will make good roach traps also. Always leave a
little bit of the wine, beer, or soda in the bottle to help attract the roaches. You can
add a little bit of soap to the left over soda, etc., in your soda bottle. Place the
bottle in an area which they are seen, lean the bottle against something so that the
roaches will have a way to climb in. Throw away the contents the next day. Wide-mouthed
jars coated with petroleum jelly on the top 1 inch of the jar make excellent roach traps
as well. Put Cockroach Brew into jar. Anything like apple cider, wine, beer, sugar water,
butter or dog food will attract them in and they can't get out! Roach Bait stations are
made with boric acid and a bait (attracts silverfish too). A good roach trap is The Roach
Eraser made by It Works Inc. .
Making Your Own Roach Sticky Trap
-
Place a piece of bread onto a board which has been spread with a layer of petroleum jelly,
or Tangelfoot, or you can buy fly paper and use that. Rat trap sticky paper mats work well
also.
Another
excellent roach trap is actually a flea trap (see also
Flea
Dept) This flea trap also catches roaches on its sticky mat. I suggest that you add a
small wad of peanut butter or grease in the middle of the sticky mat. Replace sticky
mat when roaches are stuck on it. Place in location where roaches are seen.
The COCKROACH INN
-
This unit is similar to the Ant Cafe or the Snail Inn. It is made
from the same bird house (available at most pet stores) except it has a wider opening.
Place a plastic cup inside. Screw down the lip. Inside the cup you can add the roach brew
mixture. This unit keeps pets and kids out while allowing the cockroaches in.
