Description of Problem:
Lawn has uneven or no growth, bare spots, water stays on top. Algae or moss growing.
Dead compacted water logged soil does not allow for earthworms, nutrition, water and most
importantly it does not allow the root systems to grow. This results in a shallow root
system and death of the lawn.
Steps to correct Problem:
-
Reduce watering to a minimum. Water every third day if possible. water in early am
instead of in afternoon or evening. If soil is water logged allow to dry.
-
Top dress lawn with compost and rock dust.
-
Spray soil and lawn with a micro biologically active product like Nitron A-35,
Superseaweed,
AgriGro and many of the
great liquids at
Peaceful Valley Farm Supply. Use soap as a wetting agent.
-
A good application of compost several times per year will help to increase soil bacteria
and earthworm traffic. Compost and rock dust will also increase the minerals
available to
the soil and the lawn. This will increase roots and increase health of lawn and soil.
-
Aerate lawn/soil at least 4xs per year. Aerate before you top-dress to increase
effectiveness. Do not aerate dry or wet soil. If soil is too wet allow to dry a little.
