Water runs off.
Compacted soil does not allow for earthworms, nutrition, water and most importantly it
does not allow the root systems to enter. This results in a shallow root system. This
causes a great deal of stress which opens it up to diseases and pests to attack.
Steps to correct Problem:
Reduce watering to a minimum. Water every third day if possible. water in early am
instead of in afternoon or evening. If soil is water clogged allow to dry.
Top dress lawn with compost and rock dust. Twice per year is best.
Use spikes to aerate lawn.
Spray soil and lawn with Nitron A-35,Agri
Gro and or
SuperSeaweed or a mixture.
Use any natural soap as a wetting agent. A good application of compost several times per
year will help to increase soil bacteria and earthworm traffic. Compost and rock dust will
also increase the minerals available to the soil and the lawn. This will increase roots
and increase health of lawn.
Aerate lawn/soil at least once per year. Aerate before you top dress to increase
effectiveness. Do not aerate dry or wet soil. Water a few days before you aerate. If soil
is too wet allow to dry a little.
Stop using chemical fertilizers which destroy the health of both soil and plants.
