The formula here is just a guide line for you to follow. Use what you can get a hold of first. Don't stress yourself out looking for something on the list. If you can't find it don't worry! Use instead something like it, if possible, or ask your local nursery or call up my web site for free! See info in back of this book.
By lots of compost I mean approx. 50 lb. of compost per mature tree. 100 lb. would not be too much for a 10 year old tree.
Add it during the composting process and not at the end.
I don't mention PH too much in this book. Basically you'll need to keep on eye on the PH levels of your soil, compost to make sure they fall within the plants needed range. I have learned from experience that if your plants are doing well and you are having little or no problems with pests and diseases that your PH levels are also correct. A good soil test would help you to determine if your PH is too high or too low.
The grass clipping, tho it is full of nitrogen, won't make it available to the soil/plants until it has broken down. During the breaking down process, it will take away food from the soil and or plants. Grass clippings can be used as a light mulch when there is plenty of good rich compost already available.
See chapter on making your own foliar spray.
States differ in their definitions of what is organic and what is natural. To me organic and natural are one and the same. Organic to means naturally occurring, naturally found in Nature.
