For Roses
The following recipe makes Apprx 27pounds. To make less follow proper proportions.
-
2 lbs Fish meal *
-
4 lbs Alfalfa meal *
-
2 lbs Rock Dust*
-
4 lbs Kelp meal or Seaweed meal *
-
10 lbs Compost or Earth Worm castings*
-
5 lbs Composted animal manure
Blend all ingredients well together. Fertilize once per month during main flowering
season. Use one cup per plant, per month. Water in well without wetting leaves.. The
compost should have an acidifier added to it, such as aged wood, pine needles, etc., to
bring the pH down. Roses grow best at a level of 6..5 to 7.2 PH. Roses love lots of rich
compost and mulch. In early spring, add enough compost to fill well around roses. Water in
well before mulching with leaves, bark etc. Roses grow best with a drip system. For best
results, spray weekly or monthly as needed with a liquid seaweed or liquid enzyme
(SuperSeaweed, Nitron A-35 or Agri-Gro) and natural soap mixture. See dept on making your
own pest controls for additional rose sprays.
