Leaf-rust fungi infects trees
causes discolored or mottled yellow to brown colored. has a powdery
material (pustules)
appear on underside of leaves. Leaves can be distorted or deformed. Rust fungi
survive the winter as spores on plants. Moisture will activate them when the temp is right for
them(55-75F). This fungi will spread on contact and can be blown on the wind.
You can best address this problem by following these steps:
1....use healthy alive compost (make your own)
2....never use chemical fertilizers that destroy the soils micro-organisms.
3....control the water in your environment (use a garden filter).
4....plant the correct type of trees
for your area
5....introduce beneficial bacteria into the soil try
